A sketch for a new painting.
Blocking in, trying to get the proportions correct.
Struggling with the hair and face.
Maybe I was being overly picky but I decided to change the whole face and hair.
The peacock feathers in the background are various glass beads. The skirt is a crinkle fabric.
Silk ribbon flowers with beaded centers are added.
She’ll be holding a rose made from a bobbin lace technique. The pedals and leaves are made individually with wire around the edges to hold their shape.

The finished artwork. The piece is backed with foam board for firmness and felt to make it look finished and a wire for hanging it.
