Unique Christmas Presents!

Hello everyone,

My granddaughter is quite the artist and loves to make graphic novels. Her mom (my daughter) asked me to make dolls based on some of her characters for Christmas presents.

She sent pictures of what she wanted.

I had to figure out how to make a ball out of fabric. I traced a 6″ plate onto muslin to get a circle and cut two of them.

Then made darts around the edges, 3/8″ deep and 1 1/4″ long.

And sewed the darts and the two halves together.

It worked!

I drew a pattern for the body and added 1/4″ seam allowances.

Traced the patterns onto folded (two layers) fleece.

Sewed the layers together, snipped the corners and made a wire skeleton for inside. I want the arms and legs to be moveable and the neck to be strong.

I had to bend the arms down to fit through the opening.

Ready to fill.

I made the head just like I did with the muslin.

Black felt for the eyes.

Black embroidery around the eyes. Each character has its own head piece.

All stuffed and put together! They are called goobers and stand 8″ tall.

Repeating the process for the second doll. 2 circles are cut 8.5″ in diameter.

The darts are made. They are 3/8″ deep and 1 1/4″ long.

I made a pattern like I did with the goobers only a little bigger. This skeleton was a bit more simple and easier to insert into the opening

The eyes and tongue are felt. The hair is fake fur. The mouth embroidered. Everything is stitched on by hand.

Stuffed and sewn to the body.

Cute underwear.

Finished with a cute outfit!
